What is Unicode SMS?
iSMS supports Unicode (UTF-8) encoding, which allows you to send SMS in non-Latin languages including Chinese, Arabic, Greek, Japanese, Korean, and many more. Standard SMS uses 7-bit ASCII encoding (153 characters per SMS). Unicode SMS uses 16-bit encoding, which supports a much wider character set but reduces the character limit to 63 characters per SMS.
Standard SMS (ASCII / 7-bit): 153 characters per SMS segment (160 − 7 reserved)
Unicode SMS (UTF-8 / 16-bit): 63 characters per SMS segment (70 − 7 reserved)
Long messages are split into multiple segments and rejoined on the recipient's handset.

How to Send Unicode SMS
In the iSMS compose SMS window, simply type or paste your message in the target language. The system will automatically detect Unicode characters and switch to Unicode mode. The character counter will update to reflect the Unicode limit.
