What is 2-Way SMS?
2-Way SMS allows you to receive replies from your SMS recipients. When you send bulk SMS using this feature, the sender number displayed on the recipient's phone mimics a mobile phone number — so recipients can reply just as they would to any regular SMS.
How It Works
You send an SMS campaign. Your recipient sees it from a mobile number and presses "Reply". Their reply is captured by the iSMS system and forwarded to the email address you set in your member account settings.
Example — SMS sent to your customer:
From: 601X-XXXXXXX
Message: A sale is on at bulksms.com.sg — are you interested? Please reply YES or NO.
Example — Reply received in your email:
Time Received: 2024-06-01 14:23:10
Reply From: +601X-XXXXXXX
Reply Message: YES
Original Message: A sale is on at bulksms.com.sg — are you interested? Please reply YES or NO.
Key Points
- Replies are forwarded to your preset email address in the iSMS member portal
- Ideal for surveys, confirmations, opt-ins, and customer feedback campaigns
- 2-Way SMS uses a long number or shared pool number as the sender — not a custom alphanumeric Sender ID
- Number Masking (custom digit sender ID) is not compatible with 2-Way SMS reply functionality
